Living on through others
October 12, 1992 - January 25, 2013
Donor, North Dakota
On January 24th, 2013. Kevin was in a motor vehicle accident on his way home from work. This accident left Kevin with no brain activity. Kevin was the oldest of 8 and a great rolemodel for his siblings. He enjoyed playing baseball, hunting, being with friends and family and loved his job in the oil field with his dad. He was 20 years old when his accident occurred. Our family together made the decision to donate Kevin’s organs. We knew that Kevin would be thrilled to be saving others lives. We didn’t know much about organ donation, but with the wonderful team we had from lifesource, we felt very comfortable with it. Through organ donation, Kevin has now outlived himself through others. Organ donation has brought our family so much peace. Just knowing that others are living because of Kevin, makes us so happy. Our family has gotten more educated on organ donation through the years and I have decided to share that with others to raise awareness. A family friend Tennille and I decided to put together a 5k in our hometown of Dickinson ND for the community. Tennilles brother received a kidney transplant last year after waiting 6 long years. It was amazing for us to come together to raise awareness with our stories being so different. Our family started to get to know the man who received Kevin’s lungs, and he made the trip to ND to meet us during our Recycle Yourself 5K event! It was such a great experience meeting him and his wife and getting to know them better. Kevin brought us together! The money raised from our event is being sent to lifesource so they can continue to keep up their great work. You can visit our Facebook page (Recycle yourself 5k) to learn more about our annual event. We had such a great turnout! We couldn’t be happier that we chose the organ donation route, and we thank lifesource for making it a good experience for us under a tragic circumstance.
Kevin had such a kind heart. He was always the jokester and would do anything to catch you smiling.
Love you Kevin, see you in heaven.
-love your family.
